FAQ
1
Do you ship, and what is the cost?
I ship within the continental U.S. at cost. I prefer to use all recycled materials so there is no charge for packaging unless I need to buy new. I will provide a quote per item, which includes insurance for the cost of the item.
2
If I sign up for your email list, will you give away my information, spam me with too many emails, or send me long pages of content I don’t have time to read?
No, I’ll send out a couple of emails a year notifying you of sales. Those on my mailing list get early access to sale items as well as a 10% discount.
3
How do you make your pieces?
I’m a hand builder. Most of my sculpture elements are constructed by creating a solid form, cutting it apart, hollowing it out, and re-assembling it. Although this sounds like a tedious process, I find it freeing because it allows me to be able to get exactly the shapes I want. Depending on the shape and size I’m after, I also sometimes work with slabs or coils.
4
Do you ever work on commission?
If I have time, I am able to do custom commissions that fit my technical and artistic processes.
5
What is pit firing?
Distinct from raku firing, pit firing is an ancient process that involves firing in a hole in the ground, or in my case, a steel campfire ring, using wood. Smoke effects are created during the firing process, and salt can add color. I fire at our remote cabin in the mountains.
