UNWRITTEN
This large series is loosely based on letterforms. Each form is a unit of meaning that invites decoding, while simultaneously discouraging it in any literal sense. Shapes are grouped, as they would be in words or sentences, further exploring my interest in multiplicity and the way meaning can be created or confused by proximity.
Part of the Unwritten series; these sculptures are horizontal, vary dramatically in scale, and can be stand-alone works or designed for wall hanging. In these works the individual letterforms are fused, reading as segmented forms rather than separate units.

Componos are part of the Unwritten series. The forms are more geometric than other pieces in the larger series, but they can be seen as letterforms in a visual alphabet making up sculptural "words."
The word Compono, in Latin, refers to arranging, compiling, composing, ordering, constructing, building.

Part of the Unwritten series, this series varies in scale from stacks that are 4” to 40” in height. The designs are based on letterforms, which in turn were often based on animal forms. These have been purposefully shaped so as to frustrate attempts at literal interpretation, eluding literal designation.

This series of small, whimsical, hollowed-out sculptures with openings look like they are meant to be a tool or musical instrument, but they ultimately defy any practical purpose other than an aesthetic one.
